Wilbert Hamilton Appears on ABC 33/40’s Talk of Alabama to Offer Financial Tips on How Parents Can Back-to-School Shop Without Breaking the Bank | Hamilton Wealth Advisors Founder Provides Key Insights on Back-to-School Spending and Managing One’s Finances
Birmingham, AL– With experts predicting back-to-school spending to grow 6.7% from 2019 and 5.5% from 2020, Wilbert Hamilton, owner and founder of Hamilton Wealth Advisors and father of three, joined ABC 33/40’s Talk of Alabama to discuss the reality of a parent dealing with back-to-school supply lists after an unprecedented pandemic and how to take advantage of certain programs that can save parents money.
He started the segment by explaining why we expect such a spending rush this back-to-school season. He highlighted the fact that people are craving a sense of normalcy, and with the government pumping money into the economy through different stimulus packages and credits, this could make for the perfect storm. He advises parents to make sure when it comes to clothes, gadgets, and school supplies that they’re being mindful and taking advantage of all they can to not put themselves in a financial hole.
“We are going through supply lists and what not, like everyone else. I understand the needs and the wants of the kids, but also as a parent, what we should and shouldn’t do before putting ourselves in a hole,” Wilbert stated.
Regarding new clothes, Wilbert advised parents to be careful not to buy whole new wardrobes that their children will grow out of in six to eight months. All they’ll be doing is putting thousands of dollars on their credit cards and accruing unnecessary interest.
Regarding electronics and gadgets, Wilbert advised that before going out and spending money on new technology, see what the schools are willing to provide. In his experience, many schools in Alabama have done a great job stocking up on items students can borrow for low or no cost. The great thing about technology from schools is that they already come with the software and hardware that the child needs to function to the best of his/her ability.
Regarding classroom supply lists, Wilbert advised parents to be careful and not to go overboard. In his experience, many schools in Alabama have done a great job stocking up on items that, in the past, they have asked parents to bring extra or more of. Before doing any extra spending, wait and see what the school will be providing, then assess the situation going forward.
With their being roughly 825,973 children who attend public and private schools in Alabama, it’s assumed that at least some of them out there would be looking for guidance on how to put less stress on their wallets during the back-to-school shopping season. So, father of three and licensed financial advisor Wilbert Hamilton was the perfect guest to join a segment all about managing one’s finances during the back-to-school shopping season. With help from licensed financial advisors like Wilbert and news segments like these, many people got peace of mind knowing that someone understands and champions them.
